For the 2023-24 school year, we will utilize an asynchronous learning model for CS1. Under this model, the student will go through most of the content asynchronously (a pacing guide will be provided), and the live lecture sessions will mainly focus on exercise problem-solving. To become certified, students must complete the exercises contained within the course’s exercises.
By offering self-guided and asynchronous professional development, we aim to give teachers the flexibility to progress at their own pace while following a structured PD/certification framework. This framework will look similar to a CMU CS Academy course, and you will have access to pre-recorded unit lectures, guided exercises, practice exercises, and certification exercises. You will be recognized as a CMU CS Academy CPCS Certified Educator upon completing the teacher certification exercises.
